George and I just returned from a trip in Alaska. We spent a week in a gold mining camp. We were on the Bering Sea about 12 miles or 1 hour and 20 minutes from Nome. Generators, outhouses, hootches without electricity, wood burning stoves... we experienced it all and had the greatest time. We mined for gold on the beach, went 4 wheeling in the mountains and experienced Alaska wildlife complete with a grizzly, moose and baby. The only problem is the blog is backwards. You have to go to the end to start at the beginning.
